    We have also used the carousel brainstorming activity in the English seminar to activate our previous knowledge and reflect on this issue and the following ideas have been some of the contributions:
    When?: BEFORE and AFTER learning about the topic.
    Involving pupils in the reflection:
    Ss can choose their own interests. What do you want to learn? Give options, come to agreements.
    Let Ss know about objectives
    Kind of assessment:
    Ask Ss what they have learned in the session
    Give them a questionnaire about what they have been working on
    Nevertheless, some questions could help us going deeper into this issue:
    Should they reflect during the process (while learning about the topic)...? How? What would be the aim?
    Should that reflection relate just to content learning (what they have learned)? What about HOW they learned it, their difficulties, their responsabilities, the quality of their work...?
    Can you think of other aspects that should be analysed by and with pupils?
    What they would need for their reflection to be significative?
    What would the role of the teacher be?

    To help them (and the teacher) do so, we use several tools and activities as the ones mentioned in the resources section (some of them will be included in the assessment miniguide). You will also see that, in most occasions, the materials are presented from the point of view of the teacher: "what info can I get with this tool?" Our task would be to analyse it, as well, looking for ways to make the children reflect on their learning when using them.
